Own nude or boudoir photos made - rather by a man or a woman?

Is it better to be photographed by a man or a woman?

A nude or boudoir photoshoot is, of course, not a quick passport photo session. With so much intimacy involved, one might wonder: is it better to be photographed by a man or a woman?

I’ve talked to many clients about this topic and learned a lot from their experiences about how much the photographer’s gender really matters. Some women deliberately choose a male photographer because they believe he may have a special eye for feminine beauty—or because they feel more judged by another woman. Others specifically look for female photographers, expecting more sensitivity and aesthetic understanding.

In the end, it turns out that gender is secondary. Every photographer brings their own personality, perspective, and artistic signature. Gender alone does not determine character or visual style. There is no such thing as “typically male” or “typically female” photography.

Experience, trust, and style are what matter most
Experience is the key to a relaxed shoot. A seasoned professional knows which poses and lighting are most flattering and approaches your nudity with sensitivity—because after countless nude sessions, it becomes something completely natural.

Trust and rapport are just as important. A successful photoshoot can only happen when you feel comfortable, safe, and respected. Read reviews and testimonials to get a sense of the personality behind the camera.

And finally, pay attention to the artistic signature: do you like the image composition, lighting, colors, and the balance between eroticism and aesthetics?Technical perfection is secondary. A great photo immediately captivates you and holds your attention for far longer than a few seconds.

Trust your intuition and choose the person and artist—not the gender.
